Antique 1817 Georgian Sterling Silver Sixpence Coin Pendant with Gilding and Enamel
This antique pendant is formed from a Georgian silver coin. The coin is a sixpence, dated for 1817 and its made of sterling silver. At some point in its past, probably during the Victorian period, it was gilded, to give it a golden colour, and enamelled on one side, then a bale was soldered to the top so it could be worn as a pendant.
Measures just under 2cm wide and 2.5cm long including the split ring at the top. Weighs 2.5 grams.
Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. No chips or damage to the enamel. There’s a file mark to the edge on the head side, alongside his nose, where the silver beneath the gilding shows through, this is probably from a past acid testing and it’s only noticeable on very close inspection. Overall, it just has the usual light wear which you'd expect on an antique item.
