Antique Sterling Silver Engraved Chatelaine with Dog Clip - 1912

£95.00
sold out

This antique sterling silver chatelaine would have been worn by a lady on the waist of her skirt. It would be used to hang something important, like a glasses case. The upper part is beautifully hand engraved, and the clip has a full UK hallmark with the date letter for 1912 and the maker’s initials J.H.H for J.H.Hillcox of New John Street West, Birmingham. The dog clip is the only part which isn’t silver; this appears to be made of steel. It has a faceted decoration around the clipping part and the bale at the top swivels.

Measures 9.2cm in total length and 3.4cm across the widest point. Weighs 14.3 grams.

Condition: Very good antique condition. Just has the usual light marks and tarnish which you’d expect on an antique item. The clip works perfectly and springs shut as it should.
