1901 Sterling Silver Sliding Mirror Pendant - Female Figure With Anchor “Hope”

Sale Price:£80.00 Original Price:£100.00
sold out

Here I have an antique sterling silver slide mirror, which could be worn wither as a pendant or hung upon a chatelaine. It features a classical female figure upon the front and back, resting an arm upon an anchor, the standard emblem of the time for “Hope”. The front panel slides to the side to reveal the mirror beneath.

There are full UK hallmarks, from the Chester Assay Office, with the date letter for 1901 and the maker's initials CS*FS, for Cornelius Saunders and Frank Shepherd. It's hallmarked on the front and back panels, the bale and on the little frame inside which holds the mirror in place.

The main body of the pendant (without the bale) measures 4.2cm high and 3.9cm across. With the bale, it's total length is 6.0cm.

It weighs 28.7 grams.

Condition: Very good uncleaned antique condition. No damage, just has the usual light surface marks and tarnish to the silver which you'd expect on an antique item. Inside, the mirror is in good useable order, with minor age-related wear to the surface.
