Victorian 9ct Gold Back and Front and Enamel "In Memory Of" Memorial
This piece was once a locket but it has lost it’s bale at the top so is no longer wearable, however it can still be used to hold 2 photos of a loved one so I’m hoping someone saves it and keeps it tucked in their pocket or purse like a tiny folding photo frame. It’s made of 9ct on the back and front, with beautifully engraved panels and the front is set with an enamel plaque showing a gravestone, surrounded by ivy (symbolising eternal love or friendship) with the monogram IMO for In Memory Of written within the cross. The sides and hinge are made from base metal for strength. There are 2 removable little frames inside to hold your pictures in place.
It measures 3.2cm long from top to bottom and 2.5cm wide. Weighs 8 grams.
Condition: As found. As mentioned, the hanging loop has gone so it’s not wearable. There’s also some surface scratching to the enamel though it doesn’t chip into the image. The hinge and closure work fine.
