1898 Victorian Sterling Silver Watch Chain with Dog Clip and 1911 Shield Fob

Sale Price:£125.00 Original Price:£165.00
sold out

This antique sterling silver watch chain features a sturdy curb link, with a dog clip fastening on one end. There’s a T-bar part way along, and a slightly later shield shaped fob hanging on the end. Every link is stamped with the lion passant for English sterling silver and the dog clip and t-bar have the date letter for 1898 and the maker’s initials B.B.Ld. The fob is fronted in rose gold, engraved with the initials on the front (VD or DV) and has a prize winners info on the back, with the date 1911-12.

At 14.5” it’s just about wearable as a necklace if you’re fairly petite (I’m not so it’s quite tight on me!), or you could add an extender to lengthen it. It can also be doubled up and worn as a bracelet. The chain’s links are 6mm wide and it weighs 40 grams.

Condition: Very good antique condition. No thinning or wear to the links and the closure on the dog clip still works well. Just has the usual light marks and tarnish to the silver which you'd expect on an antique item.
