Antique Sterling Silver and Mop Folding Pick Tool - 1899

£58.00
sold out

This antique folding tool is made from sterling silver with a mother of pearl handle. There’s debate as to whether it was designed to clean your nails or to eat snails! I vote for the former but really, use it for whatever you wish! It’s beautifully crafted, look how the curve of the tool fits perfectly againist the edge of the handle, and there’s a full UK hallmark, from the Sheffield Assay Office with the date letter for 1899 and the maker’s initials IE&S, for Isaac Ellis and Sons.

Measures 8.5cm in total length when open, 5.4cm when closed, and 1.2cm across the widest point of the handle. Weighs 11.7 grams.

Condition: Very good antique condition. Just has the usual very light marks and tarnish which you’d expect on an antique item. No chips or damage to the MOP. The tool part snaps into the closed position perfectly and stays in place when closed, as you’d expect.
